A New Year!

Well, 2012 has gotten off to a wonderful start! Today was my first time seeing the kids since Christmas and I have been praying about what we will be doing this year. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew that God would show up (He always does!). As I pulled into Hudson Dockett I saw a group of kids run out to the van. I wasn't expecting a large crowd because I didn't know if word had gotten out to everyone yet that youth meetings started back today. I was surprised to receive such an energetic greeting, and above that, the kids who were racing to me were not kids I expected to see--primarily because they hadn't attended a youth meeting in several months. In fact, one of them, a boy, had only attended one youth meeting and had been so disruptive I had to create a whole new set of "rules" for the group. As a result of his behavior I had had no choice but to ask him to sit out for the next meeting as punishment. The next week after that he was allowed to attend but chose not to. That saddened me and I had been praying about him ever since. He did come to the Christmas event but I had not seen or heard from him since then. Today he jumped in the van, clearly excited, and said, "Mama K, Mama K--I have been waiting and waiting for you to come! I have wanted to see you ever since Christmas and I have been waiting for you to come back. I want to get saved!"

My heart stopped. This is evidence for me, evidence that I needed to have, that it is never too late, that a heart is never too hardened, and that you never know when your actions or words can open a door for a life to be forever changed. Hearing those words was the biggest blessing I have gotten in a very long time! What a way to start out 2012, Lord!! I don't know what You have in store for us this year but I know it is BIG and I am ready! BRING IT ON! :)
